Help Close the Gap Between Research and Drug Policy!
The 2nd Edition of Cover My Dreams in Ink was released July 1, 2021. The seventeen chapters that recount the life of my son Paul—his struggles with learning differences, mental health, and addiction—are unchanged. But I was eager to further develop the Epilogue, to provide a more substantive account of our nation's drug crisis, the reforms needed to make a difference, and the barriers that stand in the way.
The path I have traveled is not one I would have chosen, but its steep learning curve has landed me with a passion to stand up for change and to seek opportunities to inspire others—a commitment that is very much of my own choosing.
My book is about the past, something that can't be altered or re-worked. On the other hand, our story's Epilogue is about knowledge and putting it to good use for a better future. In packing my insights into the book's 5,000-word Epilogue, my goal was simple: I want others to have a grasp of the factual information that isn't readily understood but is crucial to overcoming our nation's record-breaking number of overdose fatalities.
As a follow-up, I created a new page on my website—Drugs & Addiction—where I cite resources in support of the information contained in the Epilogue. Naturally, I hope the book and its Epilogue are widely read. Regardless, I hope the contents of this dynamic page will encourage ongoing discovery.
Note: The 2nd Edition of Cover My Dreams in Ink also features a new section of Paul's poetry, comprising fifteen of his poems as yet unseen, and added in response to the glowing reviews of his work.
